Double tap if you love before and afters as much a Double tap if you love before and afters as much as I do! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Oh man, you guys! This one caused me stress 😂. I’ve never shared this bathroom because this is the only room in the house that I would completely re-do if I had the chance. It was the final room that I designed and I did it in a hurry. ⁣
⁣
One thing that we have learned through our fixer-uppers is that we should have all of the design pieces picked out and on hand before we start the process of tearing things out.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I really wanted to do a birch wood vanity, but at the time we renovated, we couldn’t find one for a price that we could justify. I would also go back and add more color and contrast, but because it’s the boy’s bathroom, I do love that it feels fun, clean and bright ✨.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The boys love the fun design of the tile (this was also a stressful decision for me 😂) and we also chose a smaller vanity to allow for more space. Overall it is a fun modern addition to our home! [P.S. Episode 34 on The Living Easy Podcast talks about our journey with fixer uppers & how we got started!]
One of the things that leads the way that I parent One of the things that leads the way that I parent my children is the desire for them to feel safe and to openly communicate with me about anything that they have going on in their lives. I want to be a safe place.

On today's episode, @bethanyadkins and I are talking about how to be intentional with your children, to foster openness as they get older, how conflict is a part of every home but how you respond to that conflict is what matters most.

And we also discuss how to find balance in parenting children when you don't see eye-to-eye with your spouse.

Bethany and I both struggle with patience and gentleness, but managing tantrums with grace and having those hard conversations with grace is a part of our journey. We are learning and growing and we want to share that with all of you!

Do you know what you need in order to restore the Do you know what you need in order to restore the balance of your life right now? [Save/share for encouragement to slow down when you need it most.]⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
It’s likely that one of the answers is this: to simply slow down.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We are always busy with something, aren’t we? I tell my boys to “just hang on one second” so that I can finish reading that one email or caption, I am busy rushing from an activity to the grocery store and back home, busy getting the house cleaned (over and over again) because *anxiety*, rushing to school drop off or to that meeting or to that birthday party. It’s never-ending...if we allow it to be that way.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Jesse said to me the other day, “I don’t feel like we do anything but clean, work, parent and rush around doing all of it.” I agreed quickly that I don’t want to live like that anymore. But how? ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Corrie Ten Boom said that if the Devil can’t make us sin, He will make us busy. Isn’t that the truth? Busyness is a distraction from the Ultimate thing. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
And a change of pattern and change of life comes from actually making the ultimate thing the ultimate thing. Jesus IS rest. He commands rest. ⁣⁣He must always remain at the forefront.⁣
⁣⁣⁣
So what do we miss out on when we spend so much time consumed by busyness?⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
“Love has the highest value in Christ’s economy. And hurry and love are incompatible.” - The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Think about when you’re rushing out of the house to get somewhere. It’s chaos - nagging, agitated tones, unloving responses. Hurry keeps us from loving well. And it keeps us from our relationship with God.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The truth is that the things that are truly live-giving for our souls are the first to *go*, rather than being our first go-to. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
One way to do this is to spend time in the Word rather than scrolling through our phones in the mornings (P.S. Ep. 7 on The Living Easy Podcast talks all about this.) ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Let’s slow down together.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
[COMMENT]: What is one way that you practice “slowness” in your life? I need all of the ideas! 🖤
