Now back to the recipe!
This dip is so festive and made up of such a unique combination of flavors.
Cranberry, jalapeno, green onion and cream cheese all come together to make one of the best appetizers I’ve had in a long time.
If I’m honest, I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. I don’t even like cranberries! But please believe me when I tell you that when my sweet friend made this Cranberry Jalapeno Dip for us, I ate more than half of the entire plate (yes, I was totally that girl at the party.)
Shortly after, I made this appetizer for a surprise birthday party where a mob of people surrounded it until it was completely gone (some ate more than others, but I won’t name any names.) 😉
There are very few things that I’ve made that had so many people asking, “Can you please send me this recipe?!”

I’ve already told my family that I’m making this dip for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year for the rest of my life because the colors and flavors are way too perfect not to!
It is the ideal blend of tart, spicy and sweet, and when eaten with crackers, it is simply one of the most “complete” dishes I’ve tasted.
With that said, I hope that you enjoy this Cranberry Jalapeno Dip much as I do and that this allows you to check “Find Holiday Appetizer” off of your to-do list!
Don’t forget the most important steps:
1. Refrigerate OVERNIGHT and
2. Strain the cranberries BEFORE you put them on the cream cheese! You don’t want it to be runny!
ENJOY! 🙂
Please also leave a star rating if you try and enjoy this recipe!

- 1/4 cup green onion
- 1-2 fresh jalapeño peppers

- 3/4 to 1 Cup sugar (according to taste)
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juce
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 16 oz. cream cheese (whipped)

Chop green onion, jalapeño peppers and cilantro.

Add sugar, lemon juice and salt on top of cranberry mixture and stir gently until blended.
-
Cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator overnight.

Take cranberry mixture out of the refrigerator and stir all ingredients together. Strain out all liquid using a collander with small holes. (Pro Tip: Save the liquid for a cocktail simple syrup - it's delicious!)
-
Whip softened cream cheese with hand mixer until smooth (about 2 minutes) and spread cream cheese over bottom of a pie plate or 9x9 dish.
-
Pour cranberry mixture atop cream cheese and keep in refrigerator until ready to serve.
-
Use a spoon to spread over Ritz crackers and enjoy!!
Wow! I would have never thought about this combination of flavors, but it does sound wonderful. I am always trying to find a new appetizer to take to holiday gatherings with me. City Spouse’s family has a kind of “cocktail hour” before dinner and this would be perfect with my mulled blackberry wine.
Thank you so much for sharing.
*Hugs*
I honestly had absolutely no idea what was in it the first time I tried (devoured) it! haha. And I was super shocked once I found out, but I LOVE it! Cocktail hour sounds like so much fun and mulled blackberry wine sounds incredible!! I think this would be the perfect appetizer – I hope you love it!
Good morning Lindsey! As I don’t think I would be a fan of cranberries either, I’m wondering if pomegranates would be a good substitute. Thoughts?
Hi Debbie! Yes, I think pomegranates would be a great substitution. However, I would encourage you to try the cranberries one day – I think they will surprise you!
OK i’ll go with the cranberries, but if my family doesn’t like it i’ll just tell them “Lindsey may me do it”!!!
Have a wonderful holiday season!!!!!
Haha uh oh – I hope it turns out!! 😉 Happy Holidays to you too, Debbie!
I am so excited to try this! It sounds delicious.
This is a wonderful, colorful & delish dish. My coworker made this for Thanksgiving, she put her dish away to soon for me to get enough. Left me wanting more. My daughter in law made it for Christmas 🎄. So yummy. Now I have the recipe to share. My husband loves it. Thankyou for the recipe. Happy New Year 2024
Isn’t this recipe from Mel’s Kitchen Cafe?? She posted it in 2011 and I have been making it since then… It’s nearly the same recipe but I thought she came up with it?
Hi there,
I’m not sure if you read the text in my post, but I got this recipe from a friend who had it at her party. I’m not sure where she got it, but I can confidently tell you that I didn’t get it from “Mel’s Kitchen”. I have a large family of cooks and we are always experimenting with new recipes and adapting old ones, so I don’t have any need to copy ideas from other people. You’ll likely find a lot of similar recipes all over Pinterest, with a few ingredients changed because that is an adaptation. But if I get a recipe from someone else, I always link back to their page.
Best,
Lindsey
This sounds so good! I can’t wait to try it. Are the cranberries left raw or do I cook them first?
Hi Dana! The cranberries are left raw. The lemon will help to level out the tartness! Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks so much for stopping by. <3
What is consensus of adding the optional cilantro? I love cilantro, but wondering about it in this recipe?
I personally love it but have also made it without it and it’s just as delicious!
Absolutely amazing!!
Delicious! Just made this for a Thanksgiving appetizer and everyone loved it, and many asked for the recipe. I made a few alterations – my jalepeno wasn’t very spicy, so I added a Serrano pepper also. I let the mixture sit overnight, but I had set aside about 1/4 cup chopped cranberries and added them back right before serving to add back a little of the tartness. Will definitely make again- thank you for the great recipe!
I made it today for thanksgiving 2016 🙂
It was a hit I only made one dish, I should’ve made 3 it was so great and out of all the appetizers we had that one is the only one that was gone and the best hit. Thanks so much for sharing!!
Tip: don’t cut the cranberries to small just diced but big diced. Lol if that makes sense. I say that because my cousin made it and it was watery. From what she said :)))
This dip was as amazing as promised. I understood the recommendation about using a knife to chop the cranberries, but couldn’t be bothered and took into consideration what to do with the macerating liquid. I chose to drinking the liquid off of the cranberry mix and blend it into my cream cheese. This loosened up the cream cheese a little bit and made it easier to scoop – which was a bonus. Makes for a bit more work, but then I don’t waste all that tasty liquid.
Um, that would be drain, not drinking 😉
I started to make this by the recipe provided and after trying it after all of the ingredients were combined, we scratched the cream cheese, added more cilantro and now it’s our families go to fall salsa! We also used it in lieu of cranberry sauce at thanksgiving dinner. It was a HUGE hit! Thank you so much for the inspiration
Oh my gosh! What a fun idea! I will definitely try this next! Thanks so much, Audrey 🙂 Merry Christmas!!
Holy cow I just made that recipe for the cranberry dip! Incredible! Thank you my party will be a hit!
Woohoo! I’m so glad you love it!! Thank you so much for stopping by, Amy! Merry Christmas!
Love this dip! I’ve made it twice, and the second time I mixed the cranberry mixture in the cream cheese instead of spreading it on top, and it is very good that way too!!
I made this for a Christmas party last weekend and everyone raved about it! People were eating it with a spoon after we ran out of crackers. Delish!
Could I use a sugar substitute?
Yes!
I’ve used this recipe for the past 2 years. It’s absolutely amazing
I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed it, Michelle! Thanks so much for being here!
This looks like something my husband would love. I might just need to make this for him =)
I hope he loves it, Bridget!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
I was looking for an appetizer to make for Thanksgiving. Definitely making this one for sure!

Yay Rochelle!! It will be gone before you know it 😉 I’m making two this year! Have a great Thanksgiving!
Wow that looks delicious! And it looks so pretty too! Would be perfect for parties this winter.
It’s definitely great for the holidays – especially with the vibrant colors! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Definitely going to try it! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Yay! Thanks for reading Laura! Let me know what you think 🙂
Thank you for sharing your cranberry jalapeno-dip holiday recipe! It looks so good and easy enough to make! I can’t wait to try this new recipe soon!!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Ashleigh! It is definitely one of the easiest dips I’ve ever made! Enjoy!!
Ahhh-mazing! This sounds like my kind of dip, and how great for the holiday fun!
Yes! I hope you love it!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
I never really knew how much a fan of spicy/sweet combos I was until I made some DELICIOUS pineapple salsa over the weekend. It was amazing. This sounds absolutely incredible, and I KNOW my husband would love it! Thanks for sharing <3
Yum!!! That sounds SO good! I’m a spicy/sweet addict. I hope this makes you a believer as well 😉 Happy Thanksgiving!
How far ahead can this be made? Hectic & company in house. Also, how long will leftover keep?
Hi Regina! You can mix the cranberries, green onion, cilantro, jalapeño, lemon juice and sugar 2-3 days in advance and keep it in a bowl in the refrigerator. However, I would put it on the cream cheese when you’re ready to serve or maybe an hour before – not much longer! Leftovers should last you about 4-5 days! I hope you enjoy! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Thanks. Can’t wait to try it!??
Our experience is there won’t be any leftovers to worry about. This recipe has been a huge hit each time we have made it.
I love hearing that!! Thank you so much for sharing! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving, Maribeth!!
Quick question..you do cook the cranberries before adding them in, right?
Hi Laura! They’re actually not! They will be straight out of the bag. They’re pretty tart but the lemon helps to balance it out a bit! Hope this helps! 🙂
Okay, thanks! Just made a batch but won’t be eating it until tomorrow. Although the bites I snuck out of the bowl were delish..thanks for a great recipe!! 🙂
You’re welcome! Thanks so much for checking out Sparrows & Lily!
Hi Lindsey,
I just made this as I wanted to try it out before Thanksgiving. It is delicious, but for some reason it is really watery. I think I shouldn’t have put the cranberries in the food processor, that might be why the dish is so watery. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi Kathleen! I’m so sorry to hear that. I did handchop all of my ingredients so I think that could definitely be it. You are using fresh cranberries (not frozen), correct? The only other liquid is 1/2 tsp. of lemon juice so I think the processing has to be the issue. Just handchop your cranberries for Thanksgiving and you should be good to go! Please let me know if you have any other questions! Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
The original recipe calls for it to be drained
Does the sweetness dull down after leaving over night? One and a fourth cup of sugar seems like a lot.
Hi Lauren! The cranberries are very tart so the sugar is a great addition. I only had mine in the refrigerator for an hour and it was still delicious. Feel free to add sugar little by little and taste as you go! Happy Thanksgiving!
So excited I found this- would bacon flavored ritz add anything or just go with regular ritz crackers? Also for the cranberries would you suggest using a chopper? Or do you actually slice each one?
Hi Kelly! Thank you so much for stopping by! The bacon might be a bit different since the dip already has a ton of flavors so feel free to try it, but I would also grab a box of regular Ritz just in case!! 🙂 I would slice them with a knife because the chopper tends to add extra juice to the mixture which you want to avoid! Good luck!! Let me know if you have any other questions.
You mention to let it cool for an hour, do you mean bring to room temp? Or is something actually cooked?
Hi Leyla! Sorry for the confusion – I’m referring to refrigerating it!
Great recipe, thank you! I made this using the “pulse” function on my food processor (chopped into small bits, NOT long enough to liquify), reducing sugar (or substitute – I used 1/2 cup Splenda & 1/2 cup sugar), and drained excess liquid using a colander with small holes. Turned out great and I had 1/4 cup juice that I could use in an “adult drink” or tea.
Hi there! Am I reading this right? I just spread 2 things of cream cheese in the bottom of a dish and top with the cranberry mix??
Yes ma’am! That’s it!! 🙂
Hi, currently making his for our thanksgiving day appetizer/snack. Do you use just the green tips of the onion or the white bulb part as well?
Hi Carolyn! Just the green tips! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!!
Just made this for Thanksgiving and it is delicious (from the bites I snuck)! And easy!
YUM!! Just made this recipe and it is AWESOME! Thank you for a beautiful & delicious holiday appetizer!
Yay! So glad you liked it Annette! I post new recipes often, so make sure to check back or subscribe! 🙂
I just made this with half a cup of sugar and it was plenty sweet for us! Great recipe!
Awesome! Thanks so much Jen!
Are the seeds edible and get included? I’ve never used fresh and didn’t know they had seeds!
Hi Molly! Yes, you can eat the seeds! This was my first time trying fresh cranberries as well 🙂
I just made a batch! But it has only been in the fridge for an hour and there is already liquid pooling in the bottom. I hand cut the fresh cranberries and was careful to measure the lemon juice….how much liquid is normal? I’m leaving it in the fridge overnight, but I don’t want it to be soggy tomorrow!
Hi Cally! Mine looks the same right now. I wouldn’t worry about the texture at all – but if there is too much liquid for your liking after you mix it back up (the sugar will thicken it), just strain it in a collander with small holes and you will be just fine! Enjoy!! Happy Thanksgiving 🙂
Hi Lindsey…?
Just wanted to find out if packaged cranberries will work same if I can’t get my hands on some fresh ones… Let me know…Thanks for an awesome recipe!
Hi Mariam – sorry for the late response! I don’t know that it will taste the same if you used packaged and it may add additional water. You’ll also need to check the sugar content in the packaged and decrease the sugar in the recipe! I’m sure it will still be delicious though!
This dip is delicious. All was eaten at Thanksgiving Dinner. Will be making throughout the holidays.
Thank you so much.
Holy Moly!! My family loved this recipe. I’m going to make double the amount for Thanksgiving next year!! Thank you!! (And my “Pin” of this on Pinterest has been”liked” and “saved” more than any other in my profile!)
I love that!! Thanks so much for trying it, Erin! 🙂
I made this for thanksgiving and it was delicious and very pretty! I will be taking it to all of my upcoming holiday parties. It’s so different and everyone loved it! Thank you for my new go to holiday appetizer recipe! Yummy!!
I love that Jennifer! It’s definitely mine as well! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Thank You for sharing this awesome appetizer! Made it for Thanksgiving n it was a big hit! I also put the cranberry mix together the day before n it was so liquidy by the next day, I put in a strainer w teeny tiny holes to drain off juice n it was perfect to put over cream cheese! (Next time I will put in more jalapeños. I used 2 n still wasn’t hot enough for me! Lol) Thanx again!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’m going to edit the recipe to strain it because I ended up doing the same! Thanks so much for stopping by Tina! 🙂
Hi, thanks for your time, I will be making this for our family Christmas. Just wanted to know about the cilantro , my family not like it. Will it not be the same if I do not use it? Or do you recommend a substitute? Thank you Joann
Hi Joann! No problem – you can definitely leave out the cilantro. My stepdad doesn’t like cilantro, so I left it out for Thanksgiving and it was still just as good! Enjoy! 🙂
I made this for a party last weekend and it was really yummy. I do have a couple of suggestions/thoughts though… I would recommend getting spreadable cream cheese to use as the base because even though I softened the cream cheese to spread it in the dish, I chilled it again before serving it (maybe I shouldn’t have?) and it was hard to spoon out and spread on crackers. The other thing I wondered about is what if you softened the cream cheese and threw everything into a food processor after you let the cranberry mixture marinate and you made it into a log or spreadable flavored cream cheese? Do you think that would work as well? Someone should try it and let us know!
I think that’s a great idea! Spreadable cream cheese would definitely make it easier to eat! Thanks Julie!!
Looks amazing! Do you think this would work spread on a tortilla (I’m thinking a green one), rolled up and cut into pinwheels? Looking for something to bring to a Christmas party.
Hi Liz! Unfortunately, I don’t think so 🙁 The mixtures starts to turn to liquid pretty quickly so I think that it would make for soggy pinwheels. However, I do love to make pinwheels with Chive and Onion cream cheese, green onion, deli turkey and jalapeno and they turn out amazing! Merry Christmas!!!
Hi there! Do you add the sugar, lemon, and salt to the cranberry mixture before refrigerating? Or are they kept in 2 separate bowls until after refrigeration? Thanks!
Hi Mandy! You add all of the ingredients together (including sugar lemon and salt) and refrigerate! Thanks for stopping by!
Lindsey, I am so excited to find this recipe! We have a couple parties I’d love to take this to, and family coming for Christmas, so I can’t wait to give it a whirl! Plus ~ it’s such a pretty, colorful dish! How much better can it get!?! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for stopping by, Kathleen! You are so sweet! I hope you enjoy this dip!!! 🙂
I’m curious what would happen if you stir it all together? My crew did not realize there was cream cheese on the bottom…they scooped the top (which was delicious)!! I noticed and told them to “dig deeper”!!! May not be as “pretty” all stirred together – I love the color contrast…but would possibly make it an easier dip to eat if all stirred together?
Hi Sherri! I haven’t tried that yet, but it’s a possibility! Let me know how it goes if you do try it! 🙂
Have made this 3 times now. I tried it with the layering effect and found that you had the topping layer and then you have a cream cheese layer. I didn’t like the separate tastes so I proceeded to mix it together like a cheese ball effect. It was great. You have that wonderful spicy/sweet flavor all the way throughout. It is a little confusing as people thought it was a jello dessert but once they tasted it they loved it.
Hello, I found a recipe that is very similar to this one and I had planned on making that recipe until i found this one! The other recipe calls for Pomegranate Arils. My questions is, how do you think it would taste with both cranberry and pomegranate?
Hi Cheyenne!! I haven’t had anyone try that as far as I know, but I do love pomegranates so I’m sure it would be great! I would cut out about 1/4-1/2 cup of sugar if you decided to add the pomegranates! Let me know how you like it! 🙂
Sounds great, thinking about making for Christmas Eve! We already have a delicious cranberry dessert that we have ever holiday that we are able to get the raw (fresh ) cranberries, believe me if we didn’t serve it there would be a riot! I have a feeling that this will go over just as well. Thank you so much!
I definitely think that they will have a new favorite after trying this one!!! 😉 Good luck Laura! Merry Christmas!
Made this for Thanksgiving this year, and everyone loved it! I’m bringing it to our Christmas Eve dinner this year since it was such a big hit, but I am the only who despised chopping up the cranberries for so long?? I didn’t end up using the whole bag because it took me forever to chop them up, and i am only making it tomorrow under the pretense that my husband helps with the cranberries. Is there a better way? I read that the food processor is not the way to go. Thank you for the great recipe!
Hi Mackenzie! I definitely wasn’t a fan of chopping the cranberries either. It was very time consuming. But as you mentioned, I did try multiple other ways and it seemed to liquify the cranberries no matter what. I think the best option is to delegate chopping to your husband 😉
Last minute pre-Christmas party. Sadly, no cranberries to be found so I had to purchase pomegranates. It looks beautiful -I didn’t use much sugar because I was worried the pomegranates/juice were sweeter than cranberries. Hope I made the right decision. My taste test seemed good. Fingers crossed. Love all the flavors you’ve added!!
I hope it turned out well for you, Jane! 🙂 I’m going to have to test it with pomegranates because a lot of people are using them!
Best served with thin ginger snaps!
Hey Lindsey! I’m not sure if I will be able to find fresh cranberries around where I live. Do you know if frozen whole cranberries would work?
Hi Sydney!
You can use frozen whole cranberries but you may need to strain them to get out as much of the liquid as possible. Make sure to hand chop them rather than using a food processor or anything similar.
Someone else mentioned that they mixed the cranberries together with the cream cheese instead of placing it on top and it seemed to help with the liquidity! I hope you enjoy!
Thank you so much, I know i’m kinda looking for them when they aren’t in season yet. I’m just trying to plan ahead for thanksgiving and I like to try out newer recipes to see if I like them before I make them for my family. Thank you for your help!
My only edit is reserve the liquid you strain from the cranberries! Makes the base for a spicey cosmo or add to sparkling water for a non-acholic cocktail. Had this for the first time last year, can’t wait to make it for the holidays.
I actually, did one of each last year. I loved both. I hope you have tried both too. Great recipe Lindsey
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you liked it! It is definitely one of my favorite recipes 🙂
Hi Lindsey! I’m definitely going to be making this on Thanksgiving after all of the awesome reviews! Regarding the jalapeños – should I take the seeds out or include that in my dip?? Thanks!
Hi Laura,
I leave the seeds because we like more heat but if you prefer to keep it mild you can definitely remove the seeds! Thanks so much and I hope you enjoy the holidays!
I wasn’t able to find fresh cranberries. I ended up using dried one with sugar added. I put a little water in the processor to moisten it because i thought fresh would would have some liquid. Did not add sugar. Only used 1 jalapeno. It smells good but i haven’t tasted it yet. Saving the taste for tomorrow’s party. Sure hope it’s as good as everyone says.
Mary D
Hi Mary,
I hope you love it! Enjoy your party!
I can’t wait to try this! Sounds delish! Everyone really likes it according to all the great comments.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Janice! I hope you love it! Happy Holidays! 🙂
Think I could skip the cream cheese and it would still be awesome?
Hi Jennifer,
Yes, definitely! I’ve heard of many people using it as a ‘salsa’ and they seem to love it! 🙂 Happy Holidays!
Will this still be divine if I make it to days before the holiday?? Just wasn’t sure if it’s still be fresh? Thanks
Hi Rhonda! Thanks for stopping by! Yes, you should be fine making the cranberry mixture two days in advance. Just be sure to wait to whip the cream cheese until the day of and don’t put the cranberry mixture on top until you’re ready to serve. Hope this helps! Happy Holidays! 🙂
Just to confirm – should I purchase the 8oz blocks of cream cheese and then whip them with a hand mixer, or should I be buying the whipped/spreadable cream cheese that usually comes in a tub?
Thanks, can’t wait to make this for Friendsgiving!
Hi Kate! I prefer to whip the blocks of cream cheese but buying the spreadable cream cheese works just as well! Whatever your preference is is fine! 🙂 Happy Holidays!
OMGOSH! This was soooo good! I was hesitant to make it because I’m not a cranberry fan. I wanted something though to take to churchwide Thanksgiving meal. I chose this and now I’m mad that I waited so long to try it!
Yay! I’m so glad you loved it, Elizabeth! And thanks so much for the sweet comment 🙂 Happy Holidays!!
Hi Lindsey!
I’m getting ready to make this in a few days for a family Thanksgiving get-together. I haven’t seen anyone ask this yet, so I guess I’ll be the first!
I really do not like onions at all. I eat them very occasionally (even in green onion dip, although I am still picky). Could I do less onion or forego it altogether and add more of something else or substitute?
Even if I keep the onions, I’m looking forward to making this, especially after seeing so many rave reviews!! I’m sure my family will love it as we are all from South Louisiana and love heat!
Thanks for your help!
Hi Shannon,
It is completely fine to leave out the onion! I don’t think that you would need to substitute it as it will still be delicious without it. Feel free to add an extra jalapeño if you feel up to it – I do that for my in-laws because they love spicy like I do!
Hello! I plan on making this for the weekend for Friendsgiving! How small are you chopping the cranberries by hand? if i chop them into 4’s would that be too much? Thank you!!!
Hi Brianne,
I typically chop mine into fourths and I think it’s perfect! Sometimes I get lazy and cut them in half 😉 so that’s perfectly fine too!
I made this last Thanksgiving and Christmas and it was devoured. The ladies all asked for the recipe. It was awesome!! Making it again this year. Thanks!!

Re chopping cranberries –
I used to think chopping onions in the food processor got them to mushy and liquidy but started pulsing fewer onion pieces and pulsed considerably slower.
It works.
Where there’s a will there’s a way ?
I love this! haha thanks for sharing, Vicky!! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi there! New to the site but was wondering if I could make the berry part and put it over brie?
Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping by, Sarah! 🙂 Yes, that should be just fine! The flavor combination will be different and I do prefer the cream cheese for this specific dip, but if you’re a brie lover, I think you’ll be very happy with it! 🙂

Has anyone ever tried over Brie instead of the cream cheese?
A friend of mine did and she really liked it! I’m not a brie fan so I can’t really give my two cents, but the combination of flavors should be perfectly fine!
Thank you!

Hah! I never in a million years would have thought to combine this stuff! I am going to have to try this (biggest cream cheese fan in the entire world right here…LoL)
This sounds like an interesting food combination so I am sure it would be absolutely lovely! This would be great for New Year celebrations.
That looks interesting and so very amazing!!!! I want to make this for Thanksgiving tomorrow! lol!
Did anyone else notice she used 1 cup of sugar in the video but the instructions say 3/4 cup? Mine is so bitter I’m not sure what went wrong.
Hi Janay! I’m sorry to hear that! I found that (for me) less sugar didn’t make much of a difference. I had a lot of complaints about the amount of sugar so I adjusted it. Did you use the correct amount of lemon juice? That really helps to take out the bitterness. Feel free to add that extra 1/4 cup of sugar and see if it helps! Happy Thanksgiving!
Cranberries are absolutely one of my favorite part about the holidays! This dip looks amazing – especially with cream cheese and a bit of heat with the peppers!
This looks so good. Cranberry and jalapenos play well because of the sweetness and heat.
Hey, I never thought of this combination… sounds new..
I would love to give it a try for sure !!!
Thanks for this recipe dear …
<3
EEK! I (obviously) did not read the recipe early enough, and just did the prep at 8:30 AM. Think the cranberries will be ready enough by dinner at 4??
Hi there! Yes, you will be just fine!! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Ooh this looks super yummy! I love the spicy twist.

Holy smokes girl, congrats on this post becoming such a hit first of all! I’m definitely going to have to try out this recipe for my next holiday party. I never would have thought to combine these flavors, but it sounds delish!
I love how bright and colorful this looks, and the fresh flavor combo is such a great thing this time of year when everything can get so heavy. Perfect!
I would never have thought of adding jalapenos to cranberries. It actually sounds delicious. I love spicy and others have given great reviews.
Looks like the perfect mix of sweet and savory! A perfect holiday app!

A friend sent me this recipe and I was intrigued. I made it yesterday and am eating some right now! I really like it and it is so versatile! I will say this, you don’t save the juice when it is strained and I just let it go down the drain. I managed to save a pint of it and I plan on using it as a glaze or a light “gravy” for pork and chicken and I might even add a shot of it to a shot of vodka and a glass of lime sparkling water! I’d like to add that I think the “relish” portion of this will be a great compliment to pork and chicken. I am interested in trying to freeze a portion for later use as it does make a healthy amount and I am cooking for one. Thanks for this, it’s a keeper for sure.
What is the shortest amount of time you think this could be made ahead? I made it 2 hours ago and we are anxious to eat it! 🙂
Hi Amanda! You can eat it right away, but the flavors come together a lot better after at least 12 hours!
I’m making this for Easter since we love it so much for the Christmas holidays. We freeze cranberries since they are not readily available. Throw the frozen cranberries in your food processor and do quick bursts of chopping. Comes out perfect with no extra juice!
Hi Ann,
Yay!! I love that you make it throughout the year – we like to do the same. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you had a wonderful Easter. 🙂

Seriously best dip! Easy prep and always a crowd pleaser!
Delic!!! Sooooo gooooood!!!!
Fan-freaking-tastic!!
This dip is a holiday staple in our home! Everyone loves it! The sweet and hint of spice go so well together. I put the fresh cranberries in my food processor (or you could use a blender), made prep a breeze!! 🙂
I cut down on the sugar a little because I like things more tart than sweet. It was SOOOO GOOD.
My go-to for holidays! It’s so amazing!

Hi Cindy! You can make the cranberry mixture ahead of time but just make sure you strain it and put it on the cream cheese right before you’re ready to serve it! 🙂 Enjoy!
Brought this to a Friendsgiving this past weekend and it was a hit! So good

We make this recipe every Thanksgiving and I have to bring pre-made recipe cards – because I know I’ll be asked for them! SO good!
Ah! I love this!!
Can you use the already “whipped” cream cheese for this recipe? Thanks!
Yes, you can! I’ve started doing that as well!
This recipe is something I look forward to every year since I first pinned it a few years ago. YUMMY! Such a great combo of flavors!

Do you think it’s a dish that would benefit from making the night before it’s supposed to be served? Or should it be made right before serving?
Yes, absolutely! It’s actually part of the recipe to refrigerate overnight and then strain the topping and place it on the cream cheese right before you’re ready to serve. It helps the flavors to blend and takes the tartness out of the cranberries. Enjoy! Happy Holidays!
Hey Lindsey!! So, I cannot WAIT to make this dip for tomorrow. I forgot green onion though, any suggestions on what to do other than going back out to the store 😂
This dish is the most requested appetizer at every holiday meal! Its the perfect mix of spicy and sweet! Do yourself a favor and just make two!
I decided to make a test batch for my family before our big Thanksgiving meal at my in-laws. My husband was on the phone an snuck a bite ..when he hung up he said Umm, that’s amazing! What is that? I need more. 😂. Sample batch was gone in 24 hours an I have batch two marinading for tomorrow’s turkey day get together. Thanks so much for a tasty and easy app! Happy Thanksgiving!
Unexpectedly addicting! I was a little nervous taking this to thanksgiving as the only app but man, was it devoured! Everyone was raving about it and how unique yet delicious it was! Can’t wait to make again for Christmas and maybe even dinner one night with a glass of wine!
Addictive dip, I made it on Thanksgiving and everyone loved it, thank you for sharing four recipe

Hi Lindsey, do you think I could spread the cream cheese into a wreath shape and then add cranberries on top? Is the mixture too liquid y and would not look nice ie; run to the center of the wreath shape? Thanks for your help!
I made it for Thanksgiving and my family asked “why didn’t u make more?” It is delicious and was a huge hit!! I’m making it two more times for my Christmas parties! Thank you for this wonderful recipe!
Do you have any suggestions for making individual servings for a crowd? I am going to a large holiday gathering with lots of guests and want to avoid the spread of germs as much as possible. By the way, I make this every year. Everyone loves it!
This stuff is delish! I can’t stop eating it! It takes everyone by surprise. The individual items you wouldn’t think but all married together. This is to die for!!

This recipe is amazing! Ever since I discovered it, it’s my go-to appetizer for everywhere I go. Sometimes my kids just request it any time of the year. It’s perfect! And what do I do with the excess juice from the macerated cranberry mixture? A splash of tequila and it’s an awesome cocktail!!

This cranberry dip recipe sounds amazing, and I plan on making it this Thanksgiving. One question, do you deseed the jalapeños before chopping? Wondering what others do about that. Thanks!
Hi Sandra! Thanks so much for your sweet comment. It is entirely up to you whether or not you de-seed the jalapenos! We like ours spicy, so we keep the seeds in. If you remove the seeds it will make the dip less spicy. Hope this helps!
Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly! Based on your reply, we’ll be going the medium-spicy route! Happy Thanksgiving!

Absolutely love this. I make it year after year. I’m attending multiple thanksgivings this year and would love to get a head start in my cooking. How soon do you think I can make this and leave refrigerated before I strain it and serve over cream cheese?
I ran across this on Pinterest last November. I had a few events to go tonwith the Spouses Club (I’m a military wife), so decided to let them be my guinea pigs to get unbiased opinions. It was a hit, these ladies were tracking down who had brought the dish. Everyone wanted the recipe. So I sent them the link here 😉 and ofcourse, I tried it on my family Thanksgiving gathering and my adult sons say it will stay on the menu from now on! Fast forward 1 yr later, and will be prepping it tomorrow and finishing it off on Thursday. So excited to have this yummy treat. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful recipe!

Hey everyone!
Can’t wait to make this tonight for a party tomorrow , I’m sure it’s going to be delish!
Just an FYI- I keep fresh cranberries (washed and pick through already) in my freezer this time of the year to use as ice cubes in festive holiday drinks. I actually was able to chop the cranberries up in my food processor ONLY because they were FROZEN! I pulsed them and they stayed nicely chopped like the picture. Just a hint for the future! 🙂
I think I’m now on my 5th year of having this be requested for Christmas 😊
A co worker made this and my initial thought was “yuck”
But oh my goodness!!! This was amazing! I’ve since made it 3 different times and every one loves it!
This is one of those things you MUST TEY. Absolutely unique and a beautiful combos and meld of flavors. I also made at Thanksgiving again and messed up the cream cheese (don’t ask), so like above just used as a salsa. Soooo good. Doing it tomorrow for Christmas Eve, but with cream cheese. I look forward to this everyone I make this!!!!!!
Made this for a Christmas Family dinner. I wanted a colorful appetizer, and this was so easy and delicious! Very easy to do, what I would recommend however is to follow all the steps and put it together at the party when you arrive. The cranberry/ jalapeño mix was very juicy, even though I did strain it before mixing! It was a little messy, but the flavor ws amazing! Big hit with my family, and I’d make it again and again!!

Hello! Do you think this mixture would be ok 2 nights in advance?
Hi there! Yes! Just wait to put it on the cream cheese until you’re almost ready to serve. Happy Thanksgiving!
Am I supposed to use both the white and green part of the green onion
Hi! I just use the green!

A neighbor has been making this for two years and it’s delicious. I wanted to bring this year to thanksgiving. I did try putting everything in the food processor and just pulsed it. Worked beautifully. Easy peasy.
Love to hear that! Thanks for trying it, Jan!
Great recipe. Aaaannnd…. save the juice that is created. Its a wonderful simple syrup for a holiday cocktail.
Yes, absolutely!!
I’ve been making this for years now and I love it so much and it’s such a hit EVERYWHERE I TAKE IT! I freeze bags of cranberries so I can make this exact dip all year long. Thank you for this recipe!!!
I swear it’s the most wanted recipe out there! haha. thanks so much for trying it!
Made it! About to eat it all up. Thanks for the recipe
Thanks for EATING IT! 🙂
This was absolutely amazing. The flavors all went well together. Definitely make sure you strain the juices the next morning after you refrigerate your mixture so it doesn’t become runny. I also don’t recommend hand chopping fresh cranberries with a knife that took too long but I didn’t have a hand chopper so had to do what I had to do lol. The dip was a hit for thanksgiving.
Love to hear it!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Hello! Could I make this the day of? Just found this and wanting to make it!
Hi! Yes! Let it sit for at least two hours.
Speeding on two wheels to the store for these ingredients!! I’m about to be a hit at the Christmas party this weekend. Here in Texas we love anything involving jalapeños!
Woohoo!! haha enjoy!! 🙂 Merry Christmas!
Hi! Love this recipe so much. Last year I couldn’t get fresh cranberries at Christmas time, so I couldn’t make this. Such a disappointment! So this year I bought the cranberries at thanksgiving and froze them so I wouldn’t be in the same predicament. My question now is do I defrost the cranberries before chopping? I feel like they’ll be too mushy. Have you ever made the dip using frozen??
My sister found this recipe a few years ago and ever since we make it every year! It’s that good. We always add more cilantro than the recipe calls for (huge cilantro fans over here lol), but otherwise it’s delicious as is! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I absolutely love this recipe! And everyone I make it for always loves it! I made extra cranberry mix and am wondering if I could freeze it to use next week. Thank you!
This is dip combination is absolutely amazing. I usually make myself a cranberry salad around the holidays and by the time I get to the bottom of the bowl I am tired of eating it but this Cranberry and Jalapeño dip with whipped cream cheese DOES NOT GO TO WASTE! These flavors complement each other so well but then I am crazy about jalapeños with peaches or mangoes and of course bacon. Lol! Thank you so very much for creating this amazing dip!! Happy New Year!!
