We have had some issues with contractors showing up. I keep telling Jesse that we got into the wrong line of business – we could be millionaires if we just showed up to work! 😉 But ultimately it has taught me patience and grace and has been a reminder that things don’t have to be “perfect” in order to enjoy my house and welcome people in.
As a side note, we recently hosted Sutton’s birthday party with over 45 people and our brand-new air conditioner wasn’t working on the kitchen and living room side of the house. We are in the desert – so you can imagine how HOT it gets here! We had to just laugh it off and bring out some old school (ghetto) floor fans to help with the air circulation.
I share this because I know that sometimes I can look over my shoulder at other people’s homes or lives and think that – because it’s new or exciting – that that means it’s also without flaws. We have had to deal with so many kinks and issues with work done in a sloppy manner. It hasn’t been easy. But I believe that so much of our joy as individuals stems from how we choose to respond to these types of situations.
However, I will say that I have fallen COMPLETELY in love with this house, you guys. I am so happy with how everything turned out! And obviously picking out every minuscule detail of your house can really make it feel like “your own” haha. It is everything I dreamt of and more – although it will likely be a work in progress for at least another year. And at that point – we may be crazy enough to start over and do all of this again!
I am currently finishing up the design of our living room and finalizing details. I wanted to share a little round-up of a few of the products from Wayfair that I plan to incorporate into our space! My mind is always changing – so we will see how it goes – but I’m planning to FINALLY share our reveal within the next few weeks once we receive the remainder of our decor and furniture.
