A Review of Chesapeake Bay Candles + My Favorite Spaces in Our Home

*This post is sponsored by Chesapeake Bay Candle, but the opinions and thoughts expressed are my own.

Jesse and I have always loved having candles throughout our home. We enjoy having them lit in each room when friends and family come to visit. We, of course, have our specific favorites that we’ve found and stuck to throughout our five years of marriage, but the only problem is that they seem to be used up so quickly and can become expensive to purchase over time.

I recently received five scented candles from Chesapeake Bay Candle’s Alassis Collection. I placed them strategically around our home in my favorite spaces to hang out. I was super excited to find that the approximate burn time for each is about 65 hours, compared to the regular 40-hour burn time of our candles.

Our loft has honestly become my happy place in our home! I spend my time in here reading and drinking my coffee while Sutton plays. I recently got rid of the rug (even though I loved it SO much) just because I felt like it ‘stole’ from the look of the room. I’m on the hunt for something to replace it.

Eucalyptus & Bamboo

I have so much fun decorating this bar cart and switching up the look of it weekly. We always make sure to have candles lit at all times somewhere on the cart.

These soy blend candles arrived in pretty packaging and are all contained in hand-blown art glass. The variety of glass colors gives ample opportunity to place them in different locations around our home. I love how easily they fit in with our decor.

If you love scents as much as I do, you’ll find that the story behind this collection is just as intriguing as the appearance of each candle:

Alassis is an exquisite collection of home fragrances inspired by the sophisticated early Mediterranean civilizations, cultures, and gardens. The collection was created by Chesapeake Bay Candle co-founder and Creative Director Mei Xu.

From Mei’s native China to her adopted American home, fragrance has been a great passion and constant influence throughout her life. Since the early 1990s, Mei has traveled the world exploring art, culture, design and scent.

During her travels, Mei fell in love with the Mediterranean region. With its vast quantity of sumptuous botanical fragrances and its rich history as the cradle of fragrance of early civilizations. Since ancient times, the power of scent has been thought of as mysterious, mystical, and sacred. Scents were used at rituals, for the power of healing, relaxation, and for seduction.

As Mei studied the history of fragrance, she dreamt up a new home fragrance concept. Alassis is a homage to the role fragrance has played in the lives of people for thousands of years.

Honeysuckle & Lily

Verbena & Cedar

The scents that I received include: Honeysuckle & Lily, Seagrass & Musk, Eucalyptus & Bamboo, Neroli & Bergamot and Verbena & Cedar.

I tend to lean toward sweeter smells, so we have primarily burned the Honeysuckle & Lily which is described as a candle with sweet notes of honeysuckle and jasmine with iris and lily. It’s a sophisticated smell that comes from a white, 3-wick candle and it’s our favorite by far!

I also like the Seagrass & Musk which has a “clean” smell encased in a pretty, blue glass that matches the blue tones of our loft.

The Verbena & Cedar candle is a large, 3-wick candle similar to the Honeysuckle & Lily and the color is my favorite out of all of the other candles.

The Eucalyptus & Bamboo and Neroli & Bergamot have certain fragrances that I wouldn’t typically go for, so we will just keep these as decorations throughout our home.

  • I have the same bar cart! I was keeping an eye on it for a long time at Target and then it went down to $40 on sale. I was so proud!!

  • The cedar one sounds amazing, always reminds me of Christmas and coziness! I like how you sprinkled a little bit of history into the life of the co founder and the story behind it!

  • I think I would like the honeysuckle and lily as well! They're really gorgeous candles and they look great in your loft!
