Faith and emotions are not exclusive and separate. Emotional and mental stability are not always ‘fixed’ by faith and sometimes it is just not possible to pray the depression or anxiety away. Mental health has become a much more widely discussed topic within the church and our sweet guest, Toni Collier, shares her perspective on the balance between trusting God and also feeling the emotions that He has created us to experience while not allowing our feelings to sway our obedience of God’s word.
Lindsey and Toni touch on the shame that can be brought on by divorce, practicing the heavenly mindset, and the way that the church handles feelings.
“Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war breaks out against me, even then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” Psalm 27:3-4 NIV
