Instagram post 2187547899309812078_620927630 Happy Thanksgiving!!! ♥️ I hope you all got to enjoy some delicious food and cranberry dip today 😋😉.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
On my drive home, my heart felt heavy for those of you who may be feeling some holiday blues, so I want to share some encouragement. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
We often set our expectations very high for the holidays, and can eventually feel let down, because it isn’t exactly what we expected or hoped for. There is a social (and sometimes financial obligation) that can make people feel stretched - and trying to create balance with it all can become exhausting. Also, if you have lost someone, it creates a very real emotional pain to go on with the same traditions without those people who are supposed to be eating and celebrating with you. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
If you are feeling any of these things, it’s important to sit in stillness and remember Whose you are. You are still a son or daughter of the King, in spite of your joy OR sadness during the holiday season. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Take some time to: ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
✨Focus on what you do have, rather than what you don’t. ⠀⠀
✨ Connect with your people and make sure that you are refreshed and restored. ⠀
✨ Lift your burdens up in prayer - Phil. 4:6 reminds us to, “be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God; And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ.” ⠀⠀
✨ Create new traditions that bring you joy and allow you to celebrate in something that is yours. ⠀⠀
✨ Write down what felt like a burden this year, and plan to set better boundaries next year.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
How are you feeling after your Thanksgiving celebration? ♥️👇🏼
Instagram post 2177122454315623453_620927630 Our little Saxon just went back for surgery. My heart is increasingly anxious because Sutton didn’t handle anesthesia well when he had ear tubes put in and I really don’t want to see that again. 😔 ⠀
⠀
I had a ton of mommas message me about this revision circumcision and asking how we knew because they have similar concerns that their boys had it messed up as well. Our surgeon said that this is incredibly common. But we were able to tell because he still had excess skin attached and no matter how clean we kept it, it would get infected if he peed in his diaper. The skin was also pulling away as he grew which caused him a lot of pain. So here we are 😔. ⠀
⠀
I’m feeling frustrated at the hospital that originally messed it up, anxious about him being so little and going under anesthesia, but I am so thankful for incredible doctors who care and a God that I can praise and trust through every season. Please pray for him! I hate not being back there with him. And we have to do this again on Wednesday to get Sutton’s ear tube out, so if you’re a praying person, Jesse and I would appreciate it so much. ♥️
Instagram post 2169390634769631152_620927630 Who doesn’t love a glow up?! 🙌🏼 Double tap if you’re into this bright dining room transformation! ⠀
⠀
We broke out the arched walls to create an open floor plan and it is still my favorite part of the renovation! We almost had to add a wood beam in the center, but a structural engineer gave the final word and said we could keep it fully open! 🙌🏼 ⠀
⠀
I kind of feel like I need a rug underneath the table. What do you think? Rug or no rug? If a rug, what color should I do? ⠀
⠀
A huge thank you to @americanhome505 for these amazing solid wood dining chairs! They are my favorite part of the space by far 🙌🏼.
Instagram post 2167165455960205819_620927630 James Potter, Harry Potter, Cat in the Hat and Thing 1! We wanted to match, but the boys had a different idea 😂 I’ll take it! ♥️ Happy Halloween, everyone! 🎃
